Udaipur, western India

Rajputana is mainly the present-day Rajasthan in India.

Halliburton makes mention of celebrations in the places he visits —“they must have a holiday every week in this town.” Learn about the different celebrations that are observed in Rajasthan.

In western India, in the state of Rajputana, we come to the town of Udaipur, and find the land that has stepped straight from the pages of a fairy tale. It bursts upon us all at once, across a blue tropical lake. On the far shore we see tier on tier of fairy palaces—blue palaces, pink palaces, white palaces.
